Tin Men and the Telephone is an Amsterdam based band that employs live electronics, projected visuals, and audience participation in combination with jazz and improvised music to create a one of a kind multimedia experience. Searching beyond their primary sources of inspiration such as the rich harmonies of classical music and modern jazz, or the visceral rhythms of hip hop and Balkan traditions, Tin Men look for the music in the sounds of everyday life, finding melodies in the cries of animals, rhythms in the patterns of human speech or structures in the bustle of traffic.

Through the use of their own ground-breaking technology (their innovative Tinmendo app), they have found ways that allow audiences to become a part of their multi-faceted, hugely engaging, enormously fun interactive shows.  All this serves as a jumping off point for the band’s highly acclaimed, modern jazz-meets contemporary improvisations. Their performances are always surprising and flexible, unique to both the venue and moment in which it takes place, and tailored on the spot to the sensibilities of each type of audience, from the seasoned connoisseurs to the curious new comers.

TMT also give concerts for kids (4-10 years), school concerts (teenagers) as well as workshops (all levels).

“a 21st-century gig drawing  their audience into the heart of the gig….  multimedia gadgetry and a sense of mischief combined to create something fresh and unexpected  Roe and his friends were reminding us — in captivating style — that jazz can be fun and profound at the same time.

The Times ***** (Ronnie Scott’s 2017)

It is an uncompromising musical story about the world in 2017, where shifts in power, war and uncertainty form the status quo. Often-mentioned as a band bringing jazz into the 21st century, Tin Men now takes a step into science fiction by creating a musical preview of centuries to come.
